Back in 2023, I had this crazy idea to start a clothing brand. I had worked for nearly 10 years in various sectors of the fashion industry and saw first hand the effects of over consumption. I knew I wanted to focus on slowing down, making use of these discarded fabrics. All while concentrating on a more ethical making process.
We are a small Re-Made clothing brand based in England.
Sophie started out in 2016 selling vintage clothing on Depop as @secondhandsoph_, rising to top seller status. But falling out of love after 6 years, she shut up shop and got herself a job working 9-5.
I've always loved vintage clothing, a time when clothing was made slow, loved and repaired. But somewhere along the lines, in-between all the online fast fashion hauls & days of the 99p bikinis. We lost the realisation that clothes making is a craft, it isn't fast, or cheap.
Realising this, I quit my job to follow the dream of once again creating circular fashion, not just by selling vintage. But recreating it!
That is where Second Hand Studio was re-born...
Each piece you see here is made by our talented team of three Yorkshire based seamstresses. We all share the love of creating new things from old fabrics. Sourced by Sophie, from second hand shops, markets or used textile wholesalers.
We are just getting started, but through our manufacturing process, our commitment to repurposing used fabrics and our repairs service. We know we are on our way to a better fashion future.
